GLÔ HOUSE

Collections

Three forms. One standard of build.

Outdoor barrels in Thermowood, cube cabins and a compact vertical for tight gardens. Choose the shape that suits your garden, the craftsmanship does not change.

Thermowood only

Every outdoor sauna we build is Thermowood

Every outdoor barrel sauna we build is made exclusively from Thermowood, timber modified at around 200°C using nothing but heat and steam. It costs us more than standard spruce, and we think it is the only material worth putting in a British garden.

01

Greater durability

Thermal modification hardens the timber all the way through, so it stands up to British weather year after year.

02

Resistant to rot and decay

Removing the resins and sugars leaves nothing for fungi and insects to feed on, without a drop of chemical treatment.

03

Dimensionally stable

Far less expansion and contraction through wet winters and hot summers, so staves stay tight and doors keep closing sweetly.

04

Low moisture absorption

Thermowood takes on a fraction of the water untreated softwood does, which is exactly what an outdoor sauna needs.

05

Better insulation

A lower thermal conductivity means the cabin heats faster and holds its heat for longer, using less energy.

06

Longer lifespan

Properly cared for, a Thermowood cabin comfortably outlasts a standard spruce one, the reason we no longer offer anything else.

07

Sustainably produced

Made using heat and steam alone. No preservatives, no chemicals, fully recyclable at the end of its long life.

08

Premium appearance

A deep, even honey-brown with a beautiful grain, which weathers gracefully to soft silver if you let it.
